Away for Trello is a free, open-source Power-Up maintained by Shockworld. It requires no external account, subscription or separate authorization.
Install Away for Trello
Add the published Power-Up to the board where you want to show availability notices. Trello manages the required Power-Up capabilities automatically.
Publish your first notice
- Open Power-Ups → Away for Trello → Settings.
- Enter the person, status, dates, message and optional alternative contact.
- Choose whether the notice should appear on all cards or only on cards assigned to that person.
- Enable Publish this notice and save.
Where the notice appears
- In the board header, where it opens the complete availability notice.
- As a compact badge on the front of relevant cards.
- Inside an opened card, including cards opened directly from a shared link.
Edit or remove a notice
If you created the notice, open it from the board header and select Edit my notice. You can update its details, change its card visibility or disable Publish this notice to remove it.
The notice is not visible
- Refresh the Trello board after installing the Power-Up or saving a change.
- On narrow screens Trello may collapse the board button, but the notice remains available on relevant cards.
- If you selected assigned cards only, confirm that the person who created the notice is assigned to the card.
- If the return date has arrived, the notice expires automatically.
- Only board members with permission to update the board can create or edit a notice.
Privacy and data
Notice information is stored in Trello's shared board storage. Away for Trello has no external database or analytics. Do not include secrets or sensitive personal information in a notice.
Report a problem
Open an issue in the GitHub repository. Include the browser, steps to reproduce and expected behavior, but never include private board content, credentials or personal information.
